"Riding is a partnership-the horse lends you his strength, speed, & grace, which are greater than yours. For your part, you give him your guidance, intelligence, & understanding, which are greater than his. Together, you can achieve a richness that alone neither can."---Author unknown
Aspiring to help others in becoming confident riders and horse owners!
I love to teach and help people learn about the grace and beauty that horses have. Kids and adults alike learn many life lessons from these beautiful creatures, that should be passed on. I am striving to build my life around this, and help others do the same. My program is centered on learning all that you can and making yourself the most knowledgeable horse owner/rider you can be, making riding more fun and safe. Need something specific? Let me know, and I will help you in anyway possible. If its something that I do not currently know much about I will research and learn with you.
My riding background includes 4-H and drill team through my younger years as well as competing on the hunter/jumper circuit, a graduate of the Black Hawk East equestrian program. While in the equestrian program I studied subjects such as equine nutrition, show prep, barn management, and riding/training/teaching skills completing my associates in equine sciences. I also had a great networking opportunity to meet so many wonderful people while attending, and work under the wonderful rider and instructor Donna Irvin. I have also served as the vice president of the Mid-state Illinois Hunter Jumper Association and Quad Cities All Breed Horse Association.
Since college I have progressed in my knowledge and wanted to learn more in the eventing/dressage disciplines. I've worked with Annie Johnson Equestrian, John Staples, Jenn O'Neill, and LouAnn Wulf providing me with some experience in the eventing discipline. Although eventing is a lot of fun and adrenaline, I found a new love for dressage. The fundamental basis for all horse disciplines, there is so much to learn within this phase of eventing. I reconnected with a former Black Hawk classmate, Amber Gipp, and experienced dressage on an entirely new level. I am enjoying learning anything I can from the Barteaus, of KYB Dressage. Kim, Yvonne, and Hudi Barteau are such a great and diverse group of trainers. I've learned more about stable management, sales, some basics of trick training (or liberty work), body work on the ground and under saddle, and of course dressage! I successfully have trained my first horse through training and first level and started schooling 3rd/4th level movements. My time working with 2 OTTB horses for the 2017 and 2018 RRP thoroughbred Makeovers broadened my background even more. I had a gelding who taught me to enjoy foxhunting and a mare who introduced me into the ranch horse world. Since then, I have begun to learn the working cow horse industry and totally immersed myself into a whole new world. My horses now do cattle round ups, catch loose cattle, and compete in working cow horse and ranch roping competitions in the summer. Then through the winter season, we fox hunt with North Hills Hunt Club 2-3 weekends a month.
My horses are just as versatile as myself. I believe horses that have many tools and can do many jobs will never be without a place to go. All the horses in the Alluring Equine Program learn a little of everything. Want to do some dressage, they learned some of that. Want to go walk through a cattle herd the next day, they can do that. Want to try out foxhunting, they have tried that. A horse that can safely find their way through any new adventures can always find a new home, even if they aren't grand champion at the task. The Some horses excel in an arena and some excel outside of an arena, they should be given the chance to find their most suitable job.
