Horses from the past in our program
Turps Poco Tivio
1995 14 hand Sorrel gelding Paco came to us as a 27 year old rope horse that had been sitting in a pasture for about 10 years. He was a perfect gentleman and needed some weight and love. Currently this plucky old guy is learning how to do very low level jumping, showing, and foxhunting with his new tiny rider. Price: Sold to Alluring Equine Lesson Student family Congratulations Abby and Girls |
Hank
Shadys Topsail Zanbar registered AQHA
15.1 hand Bay gelding
Located in Bennett, IA
Level of rider recommended: intermediate or advanced/confident beginner WITH continued Training
Price: Sold to Alluring Equine Lesson Student family Congratulations Abby and Girls
Pedigree: Shady Topsail Zanbar Quarter Horse (allbreedpedigree.com)
This gorgeous boy is a a stunning flat knee mover and has a puppy dog disposition. He will gladly hangout with you in the pasture, following you anywhere. He rides in front middle or back of the line for trail riding. Doesn't mind leaving the group or walking casually in the back. Has a side pass, has jumped low level fences, can extend and collect. Has a huge solid hoof, can go barefoot all day long. Hank is a super star on the trails, including being a sure-footed ride through our S. Dakota trip last fall.
He came to me with some holes in his training and so we have been filling those in. He seems to enjoy trail riding and jumping. Does best when in consistent work, like most young horses. Has interest in cattle and is working on confidence with the rope.
Completed a hunter pace with grace, with an amateur rider abroad. He jumped all low fences that he was pointed at and took all rider errors without batting an eye. He has a smooth trot and canter, with a big but slow stride for his size. Many times, he can keep up at an extended trot, while others are cantering. Hank has completed his first season fox hunting in 3rd flight, and even struck up to second and a brief outrider excursion. He handles gate duty, stays behind with struggling riders/horses, and even can gallop out to cut off a coyote track. This guy has some very serious potential if training is continued.

Sexy Legs
2014 Dark Bay Thoroughbred Mare 16.1+ hands tall Sold to Stagecoach Stables in Ames to be an intermediate and above lesson horse Let me introduce Sexy Legs, and does she ever have sexy legs! A gorgeous uphill 8 year old seal brown mare with a smooth ground covering and fluent stride and a willing disposition. With a refined head, well balanced hip and shoulder, this is one beautiful mare that is sure to please. We have developed the correct foundation with forward and rhythm for dressage as well as any other field that she wanted to go in. Sexy has leg yields and shoulder in movement. She will easily transition into a beautiful dressage horse, hunter, low level jumper or eventer. She is very confident and steady in the arena and forward out on a cross-country school. She will carry her rider over any jump with a little leg and a soft seat, but needs a confident rider outside of the arena. This mare wants to please her person, so come one come all mare lovers! She loves kids and has had intermediate level students jump her, and taller beginners on the flat. She can take a joke but prefers a soft seat and handed ride. She could take a confident beginner while in a training program or an intermediate rider on their own easily. Price may be negotiated if the right person fits her. Rider level recommendation: Confident rider for trail riding or outside of arena, a beginner in the arena will be fine. Videos available on my youtube page. Price $4,500 |
Phoebe
Sold to Andrea to be a great dressage horse (Pictured right) 2012 Holsteiner/Westphalian cross bay mare 16.2 hands Dam is available for viewing with owner. Phoebe is hunting her second season with north hills hunt club but had a few years out of work in between. She is soft in your hand and moves off of your leg. Phoebe is an easy hacker out in the field and loves to go out with a group or alone. She is an easy keeper, barefoot, and middle of the pecking order with a herd. This mare thrives on work and attention. She is not a spooky horse and is sensible and loving without being over the top. Rider level recommendation: A confident beginner with trainer supervision should be fine. She is a push ride and needs a soft steady hand with LOTS of leg. If a young girl had a strong leg and wasn't intimidated by her size she could easily pack them around the arena and WIN flat classes and low level jumpers (possibly hunters with some finishing touches). On the hunt field phoebe is a uncomplicated ride, but requires a bit of confidence. She has plenty of whoa and is easily kept in 2nd or 3rd flight, but also can stay with 1st flight without effort.
